Tattle Tales

okay, I'm at work now, it is almost 2am , only 4 1/2 hours to go.

For those of you who don't know. I work 3 nights a week from 11pm to 6:30am doing the night audit at a Best Western. This basically means I stay up all night playing on the internet and watching movies on my laptop until 5am when I have to do the nights paper work, but that only takes 20min :)

I don't really have any plans for today. Since I'm working tonight I will sleep till the kids get home, then things usually get interesting from there.

Child Dilemma of the Day:

Ashlyn always has something very important to tell me when she gets home and it usually involves her brother and what he was up to on the bus. yesterday she comes up to me and looks right at Ryan and says " I promised Ryan I wouldn't snitch on him but he ate candy on the bus this morning" She was all proud of herself until he tells me she ate some too because he bribed her with a piece so she wouldn't tell me :) I don't even know what to say to this, i really wish she would just stop tattling on him. If I didn't catch him and it's not going to hurt him, do I really need to know absolutely everything? He was eating candy not smoking a cigarette or drinking beer. If he wasn't allowed to do it I'm sure the school would let me know. How do I stop her from doing this??

How about having them BOTH get in trouble if she tattles? Explain that she can only tell on Ryan if he is hurt or bleeding or doing something really bad. And then when she tattles, decide what is okay to tattle about and what's not... and punish them both. So that Ryan knows he shouldn't do it, and so that she knows she'll get in trouble too? I don't know...

Oh boy! My kids are 11 and 13 and they still "tattle" on each other. Olivia is the worst, she will tell on Ethan for something she did herself just the day before *lmao*...wish I had a cure for this myself. :)

Good luck and lots of hugs,J!
